DATALIS™ is a collaboration between UC San Diego, Drexel University, OCLC, and the University of New Mexico working to address “How might we help libraries collaborate to innovate professional education that impacts recruitment, growth, and retention.”

 What is DATALIS™?

DATALIS™ is an integral part of the LEADING initiative, funded by IMLS, designed to enhance Data Science expertise among early career and doctoral students in the Library and Information Science (LIS) field. It focuses on innovating professional education and exploring the future landscape of professional and continuing education in this domain.

In DATALIS™, ‘professional education’ encompasses a broad spectrum. It includes formal coursework as part of degree programs, formal continuing education, and informal or self-directed learning opportunities. This holistic approach is aimed at enhancing the skill set of LIS professionals comprehensively.

How can I get involved with DATALIS™? 

To participate in DATALIS™, you are encouraged to register for the LEARN, WORK, and DEVELOP events. These events are part of the collaborative process to enhance LIS expertise. Additionally, a virtual session titled PRESENT will be scheduled in early April to showcase the results of these collaborative efforts.
